read maps, Timezones, Time differences G.M.T. variations.

Tourist Attractions around the world North America, South America, Europe,
Africa, Asia, Australia.

Elements of weather and
climate Itinerary Planning by Air Factors affecting global and regional tourist
movements.

limitation of a package tour.

necessary requirements do’s and don’ts of itinerary preparations costing,
quotation, tariff, commissions & other remunerations of tour operation

(Project Report on ‘On-the Job Training’ in any travel related
sector/ Project Report of ‘Case Studies’ on any
chosen destination of historical or touristic importance.)
Course
Outcomes:
CO1: Students
gain practical knowledge and will have the advantage of more visual information
thereby motivating them to take up employment in the various sectors of
Tourism.
CO2: gain in
depth knowledge about the Tourism industry from the practical point of view
CO3: learn to
write a comprehensive report basing on the knowledge collected during the
practical training
CO4: analyze
the collected material, compile and prepare a Project Report
CO5: Evaluate the role of the Tourism industry in
the socio-economic development of the country.
Course
Objectives:
·
The main objective of
this elective is provide the very valuable Industry exposure and gain firsthand information and practical knowledge about
the various sectors of Tourism.
·
Preparation of Project
Report on touristic or historical sites would enable students to gather in depth
information about the said sites, understand the scope of tourism, challenges,
available facilities and the need for further facilities and the necessary
recommendations may be suggested by the students.
Syllabus:
a. In
order to gain in depth knowledge of the various Tourism related sectors, and to
get first hand work experience, the students are placed in any one of the different
sectors for a duration of 2 to 4 weeks during the summer vacation( at the end
of 4th semester). On
completion of the ‘On-the Job Training’ , a Project Report is to be prepared
which will be evaluated both internally and externally through viva voce at the
end of the 6th semester.
(Or)
b. An
in depth study of a place of touristic/historical importance will be taken up
during the summer break of the fourth semester ( at the end of 4th
semester). A Project report will be
submitted on the study at the end of 6th semester, which will be
assessed internally and externally
through Viva voce.

‘One day tours’ will be organized to the
places of touristic / historic importance during the first year of study ( a
maximum of two to three tours) . A Project Report will be submitted at the end
of the second year, which will be assessed internally and externally through
viva voce (20+30)
