Department Activities 2019 - 20

 Long Study Tour 
                       April 26th 2019 to 1st May 2019 the students of I B A TTM and II B A TTM have been taken on a long study tour to Bangalore, Mysore & Ooty.
         Dr G Beulah, Mrs.LMR Swaropa and Ms. Jyothirmai escorted the students.
        Some of the places visited include Visweswara Museum, Tippu’s Summer palace, Lal Bagh, Iskan temple in Banglore;St. Philomena church, Brundhavan gardens, Maharaja palace in Mysore; Dharia Daulat Bagh in Srirangapatnam and Ooty – The Queen of  hills.
            The tour was successfully completed and helped to create awareness on the scope of Tourism and historical importance of various historical places.
           The trip was truly enlightening, enjoyable and educational. 





                    Guest lecture
             On 27.07.2019 the department organised Guest lecture for all the B A Students in the college auditorium. Mrs Brahmeswari, HoD , Dept of Humanities (Retd). St. Theresa's Degree College Eluru, address the students on the topic" Heritage and Culture of India". The talk being enlightening served to instill respect and love for the country in the minds of the students.






                                                                                                      Independence Day celebrations 
                  Independence Day celebrations were organized by the dept. for the whole college in the college auditorium.  The chief guest for the occasion was Mrs Yellamanchili Anjali.

                As part of the celebrations, competitions were held for the students on Elocution and Poster presentation on the themes “ Relevance of Independence day  to the present” and “Freedom struggle” respectively. Students participated enthusiastically and won prizes.







                                   Invited Lecture by Mrs PV Sridevi
                   On the eve of birth anniversary of Gidugu Ramamurthi (The father of Spoken Telugu) guest lecture was arranged by Utukuri Lakshmi kantham kala peetham Mahila Vibhagam, Vijayawada. The focus of guest lecture was on the conservation and development of Telugu language.



                                                         World Tourism Day celebrations
            World Tourism Day celebrations, an Inter collegiate event was organized by the department on 26.09.19 in the college auditorium for all the B.A. students and the Intermediate students of HEC & HSC. The guest of honour was Mr Ramalakshman, District Tourism Development Officer, AOTDC, Vijayawada, and the Chief Guest was Dr Purnachandra rao, Head, Dept. of Travel and Tourism management, Acharya Nagarjuna University, Nagarjuna Nagar, Guntur.  The theme of the day   was “Tourism and jobs-a better future for all”.


















Swatcha Bharat & Swatch Paryatan programme
          On 29th October 2019, at 11am attended a programme on ‘Swatch Bharat & Swatch Parytan’ on the eve of 150th years of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. It was organised in Madhu Gardens by IITTM (Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management) of Nellore in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism. It was a Tourism Stake holders meet.
                       IITTM of Nellore conducted awareness programme on conservation and preservation of historical monuments and Tourism destinations. Mrs. PV Sridevi and Lt. N. Sailaja attended the programme. Nearly 100 people participated in the programme. Faculty from ANU Guntur; SRR College, Maris Stella College, IITTM, Members of cultural centre Vijayawada and Amaravathi shared the dias.


                                 International Human Rights Day celebrations
         International Human Rights Day was organized in collaboration with the Dept. of Social Work on 10.12.19 in the college auditorium.  The chief guest and guests of honour included Mrs Vasireddy padma, Charperson, Mahila Commission, Govt of AP, Hon. District Collector, Mr Md. Imtiaz, Mr. Vishnu Vardhan, the DCP and other dignitaries.  The event was conducted in collaboration with International Justice Commission, a renowned and noble NGO. 











One day Study Tour
                One day tour to Amaravathi & Undavalli caves for the first year B A TTM students was organised by Mrs. PV Sridevi and Mrs. Lt. N. Sailaja on 17.12.2019.
  The places visited include Amareswara temple, Stupa site and Museum.




                               Sports day celebrations
     
                     On 11.01.2020, Sports day was celebrated in the campus and the students of Tourism of all the years actively participated in the Marchpast organised on the day.


                      
                                  EBSB-Student Exchange Programme under RUSA:                                                    Inauguration of EBSB Club, 29.11.19
                                       Under the  MHRD RUSA 2.0 initiative, Ek Bharat Sreshta Bharat Club has been inaugurated in the college auditorium on the 29th of November, 2019.  The programme was started with a Prayer song/ patriotic number by MsAsritha and group highlighting the theme ‘Unity in diversity’ of our culture. MsKavya and MsKalpana of I FMC performed a welcome dance.  The lamp was lighted to signal the commencing of the Club by the dignitaries on the dais namely Dr. Sr. Innyasamma and Ms Hannah Anuhya, the Vive Principals of the Degree section ,Dr . G. Beulah, the Nodal Officer of the EBSB ,Dr D. Ramakrishna, Head, Dept. of Sanskrit, Committee members of the EBSB Club namely Mrs G. UshaKumari, Head, Dept. of Mathematics,Mrs LMR Swaroopa Rani, Lecturer in English,  Mrs. Lt N. Sailaja, lecturer in history, Associate NCC Officer, Mrs P. Sri Bhagyalakshmi, lecturer in Commerce, Mrs B. Sri SeshaSudhaGAyathri , lecture in Physcs, Mrs N. Srilekha, lecturer in statistics, Mrs G. HimaKumari, lecturer in Chemistry, and  Ms N. Pranathi, Student Coordinator-EBSB.
                   DrSrInnyasamma, MS Hannah Anuhya addressed the audience and wished well for the activities of the EBSB Club. Dr G. Beulah addressed the students on the aims, objectives and activities of the EBSB through the RUSA 2.0. The EBSb Pledge was also taken on the occasion.
                           Members of the EBSB club actively participated in the cultural programme. MsRishitha of II BSc CBZ and Aneisa Kaiser of II TTM presented a PPT on the culture and heritage of Punjab.  The programme was brought alive with the rendering of a Punjabi song by Ms B. Praneetha of III B.Com and group and a lively Punjabi Medley by Ms. Mary Jyotsna of III B.A. TTM and Group.
                      Attended by more than two hundred members, the programme helped to stir great interest in the lively, colourful Culture of Punjab.



                              Punjabi Food festival by EBSB Club
               The EBSB Club organized a Punjabi Food Stall in the college Campus as one of the activities of the EBSB Club, on 10th February, 2020.  All the members of the EBSB Club along with other members actively participated in the Punjabi Food Festival and enjoyed the delicious Punjabi food.
                The Food stall was organized near the College Canteen.  The menu included the typical Punjabi food items namely Aloo Paratta, Butter Chicken, Butter Paneer Masala, Khushka Biryani, Raitha, Katta, and Lassi.  Kulfi was also sold on request from the students. The food was prepared and supplied by the Milap- Punjabi Hotel, near Panja Centre, Vijayawada. 
                  The event was a grand success as students enthusiastically   enjoyed the typical Punjabi food items.  The Food Festival   brought the whole college together and a lot of bonhomie was spread around.  It helped to create a lot of joy and happiness and the EBSB Club got an excellent opportunity to spread one aspect of the Punjabi culture in our college campus.
                 Attended by the Principal of the college, Dr Sr Jasintha,  RUSA Co-ordinator, Dr Ch. krishnaveni  , Dr Girija Nambiar, Dean of Planning & Communication, Mrs Santha Kumari, Dean of Administration, Dr  G.Beulah, Nodal Officer, EBSB, Committee members of the EBSB Club from among the staff and students and other teaching , administrative staff from the college, the Punjabi Food Festival was indeed a ‘Gastronomic delight’ to all!
